Organic Engagement

Build your audience and target new clients

I have noticed a pattern

When a client comes to me asking why their account isn't growing at the same rate...

I Ask: Are you doing your daily engagement?

Client: [sheepish voice] not really no...

This is when I kindly remind them we are working with 'Social' Media platforms.

It's called social for a reason and daily engagement is key for growing any account.

Engagement on your social media platforms is important because it brings out genuine interactions and interest from real users, as opposed to paid engagement or bots.

When users engage with a post or a brand organically, they are demonstrating a real interest in what that brand has to offer, and they are more likely to become loyal customers or advocates.

Creating high-quality content takes time and effort, so don’t let it go to waste.

If you over look the step of daily engagement you’re missing out on the opportunity for your content to be seen by more people… for FREE!

Don’t Overcomplicate The Process

When doing daily engagement there are three main areas we want to hit.

Your community

By actively engaging with your current clients online it makes them feel special.

Everyone loves it when their new photo gets a like, and to see that coming from the brands and companies they use will not only give them a reason to sing your praises more, but that word-of-mouth effect will be key for generating more qualified leads and sales.

Algorithms change frequently and that drastically affects how your content is distributed and discovered by users. Daily engagement keeps you relevant on their timeline, and top of mind when they are going about their day recommending new products and services to friends.

It has the added bonus of helping your business with user generated content, which you can repurpose onto your own channel.

Nothing can compare to genuine client testimonials.

Let your community do the talking for you.

Outreach

Your ideal clients are out there, they just don’t know about you yet.

The average person spending time online is bombarded with ads, and content from millions of other users and accounts. Seeing your brand once as they scroll through their newsfeed is not going to be enough for them to remember you when they need you.

… Do you remember the details or content of even the last 3 posts you liked?

You have to remind them you are there. Every Dam Day!

Direct Messages

If you already have an established product or service it’s time to start sliding into the DMs.

If you’re a gym - do you have a free trial you can offer?

If you have a product - do you have a promo code you can offer for first time buyers.

If you run a service company - do you have a low ticket offer you can bait them with to show the value of your work leading to higher ticket sales.

This doesn’t always have to be a free or discounted option.

Side note - I don’t recommend my clients to offer discounts regularly, if ever. You have a valuable product or service you provide and people should be paying you for the work you do.

Discounts are a slippery slope that undermine and devalue your business.

What creative way can you offer value to hook new clients?

Calculating the lifetime value of your clients is a good idea at this point to see what kind of offer you can give.

What Is ‘Good’ Engagement?

If you’re a new account starting out its hard not to get caught up in the numbers.

We are out of the phase where your follower count is all that matters. If you see an account that has 10k+ followers but upon further digging every post only gets 1 or 2 likes, you can be assured that they are paid, and most likely not making any revenue from those followers.

Those inflated numbers do more for your ego than your company income.

You want your engagement to be growing as your account does.

<1% = Low

1% - 3.5% = Average/Good

3.5% - 6% = High

>6% = You’re going a freaking amazing job keep it up!

So with a 10k account your posts want to be hitting at least 100 likes per post.

At the 3.5% mark you are getting on average 350 likes.

If you have a large following currently and engagement is low, make sure you are implementing the engagement protocol below and start to bring up your numbers.

The 2 Day Rule

Achieving big results start by making small changes and keeping them consistent overtime.

Just like any worthwhile goal - this too will take time.

This is where I stress the importance of consistency. Even if you only have 10 mins, ENGAGE!

The algorithms will favour accounts that are putting time into the platform and keeping people on it.

Respond to comments and messages from your followers.

To increase engagement even more ask questions and encourage discussions in the comments section to bump up your numbers.

By doing this you will not only build stronger relationships with your audience but also increase the likelihood of them engaging with your content in the future.

Bonus: New people coming to your page will see that your account is active.

Engagement Protocol

Alright! This is where we get down to the weeds of it all.

What does an engagement strategy actually look like?

I recommend a minimum of 30 mins to my clients.

If your business already has staff members or a receptionist that you can assign this daily task to even better. Put it on their To-Do-List.

30 Minutes Engagement Protocol

Community Engagement - 10 mins

Accounts who you follow and who follow you

  • Keeps you relevant on their timeline

Outreach Engagement - 10 mins

Finding new accounts to engage with.

  • Start with the followers of big accounts that are in your niche

yes you can target competitors just be tactful with your approach.

Networking - 10 mins

Start sending Direct messages

  • Talk to people!

If you’re still not sure what to do here send me a message and let’s take a look at your business.

This protocol will work on any platform you are currently posting on. If you are really strapped for time take the first 2 and start with 20 mins a day.

I find setting a timer helps to keep this a focused task, as it is very easy to log into your account to do engagement only to find two and a half hours later you are mindlessly scrolling and have forgotten what you were even on there to do.

Start engaging today and I can assure over the next 3-6 months you can expect 5 things to happen:

  1. Increased brand awareness

  2. Improved customer engagement

  3. Cost-effective marketing

  4. Increased website traffic

  5. A competitive advantage

Try it for 30 days and if you’re not starting to see any results book in for a free 30 min call and let’s take a look at your account together.
